Virginia Marie Walker Johnson of Keswick, VA heard the voice of her Lord and took the hands of the angels, knowing that she had completed her earthly journey and gladly received her greatest reward on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville,VA. She was born March 28, 1954, in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Constance D. Ashton and Lawrence E. Walker, Sr.
Virginia was a graduate of Albemarle High School and was employed by Ivy Industries, Cismont Market, and Techni-Color. Taking pride in all she did, the job which was dearest to her heart was caring for her grandchildren, of course not a job at all; as it was moments that filled her heart and soul with adventure, excitement, joy, love, and many surprises. The greatest grandma smile came by way of delivery from those grandbabies, and she had special names, desires and aspirations for each one of her babies. She enjoyed family gatherings and the laughter and love shared by all she knew.
Left to cherish her precious memories are a son, Travis F. E. Walker, Sr. and his wife Antigone of Charlottesville; daughters, Ashley and Elexis Johnson both of Keswick. The extra special joys of her life, Travis, Jr., Israel, Anaiah, Camryn, Elisha, Azel, Zechariach, Josiah and Victory; two brothers, Lawrence E. Walker Jr., of Keswick and James E. Walker and Linda of Charlottesville; three sisters, Mary Frances Walker of Charlottesville, Thelma Ashton of Keswick, and Marcia White of Charlottesville; one aunt, Christine Cooper of Summerset, PA. Virginia is also survived by a host of beloved nieces and nephews, who were very dear to her heart, as well as many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 1 P.M. at Union Grove Baptist Church in Keswick, VA with Pastor Arnette White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
The Walker and Johnson families are very grateful for all acts of compassion and concern given and displayed by healthcare providers at Martha Jefferson, their church family and friends.
J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
