Linda Carol Dowell Eddy, 65, of Esmont, Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at UVA Medical Center surrounded by her family.  She was born September 9, 1948 in Charlottesville, VA, a daughter of Early and Esther Childress Dowell.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church Covesville, and served there in her childhood and teen years.  After marriage, she joined New Hope Baptist Church, Esmont, where she was a member of the Missionary Circle and the Fellowship Choir.  She later affiliated with The Way of the Cross Baptist Church, Palmyra VA, where she served as a Deaconess, the Usher’s Ministry President, and member of the Sarah Feggans Memorial Choir.  She truly loved the Daughters of Lydia Sunday School group, and had fond memories of learning, laughing, and sharing together with her sisters in Christ.  She loved traveling and got the most enjoyment from spending time with family and friends over a good meal.  Additionally, she loved watching sports and was very competitive.  Her favorite teams were her beloved Washington Redskins and UVA Cavaliers.   She loved coaching from the couch, and would often stop conversations/phone calls to finish watching a game.  She also loved the Game Show Network, Hallmark, and Lifetime channels and would tell you verbatim everything she had seen on TV that day.
She was preceded in death by her parents Early and Esther Dowell;  her sister Gloria Dowell; a niece Shannon Dowell; a nephew Dalvin Dowell; and her Mother-in-law Harriet Eddy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 46 years David Eddy, Sr. of Esmont; one daughter Juanita R. Eddy of Charlottesville VA; one son David “DJ” Eddy Jr.;  and daughter-in-law, Lauren Eddy of Charlottesville VA. Three grandchildren who were her babies and her heart, Kyla, Trevor and Tyler Eddy of Charlottesville, VA; one brother, Curtis Dowell and his wife, Diane of Charlottesville VA; one beloved aunt, Marian Dowell of North Garden VA; four nephews, Vincent, Alonzo, Brandon and Don Dowell; two nieces, Michelle Dowell, and Katilia Strothers; three great nephews; one great niece; and two God Children, Lance and Beverly Scott. She is also survived by a host of cousins, friends and loved ones.
