Margaret Smith McGruder Rush, aka “BAMA”, went home to be with the lord on May 31, 2014 at the Houston Healthcare Center, Warner Robin, GA. She was born to the late Emma S. Ford and Leslie Smith on, October 29, 1936. She was 77 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Ernest McGruder and Edward L. Rush, and one sister, Vigil Reed.

Margaret was a faithful servant to God first and she loved her family. She always made sure all the children in her family and world went to church and would come to know the lord. Margaret was a graduate of Jackson P. Burley High School. She worked as a Licensed C.N.A. for the Towers Nursing Facility for many years, and later worked for The Cedars Nursing Facility. She was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, director of the Children choir, member of the Usher board, Church nurse, and the Cradle Roll for new babies. Her mission was to bring young children to Christ. Margaret would visit the families of the neighborhood on Saturday to prepare to bring the children to Sunday school and Church on Sunday.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Deborah M. Tyler, and son-in law Marvin O Tyler of Bonaire, GA; two grandsons, Correy O. Tyler, of Saudi Arabia, and Jevon O. Tyler, of Bonaire, GA; two Great Grandchildren, Camren W.H. Tyler and Madison R. Tyler of Texas; one sister in-Law, Mrs. Josephine Smith of Charlottesville, VA.; three nieces, Wanda Grooms of Charlottesville, VA, Roberta Reed of Richmond, VA and Linda Reed of North Carolina; a nephew Curtis Reed of North Carolina and seven other nephews; special Cousins, Phyllis Hester, Evelyn Barbour, and Selita Hester; special friends, Marie Booker, Mrs. Elizabeth Austin, Ardell Heath, Claydell Simmon,of Columbia S. C., Wanda of Alabama, and Christina Grady of Columbia S.C. and a host of cousins and other friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Mt Zion First African Baptist Church, 105 Lankford Ave, with Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. There will not be public viewing.

The family would like to thank Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stedfast Christian Center of Columbia, S.C; all friends and the staff at Houston Healthcare Center of Bonaire, Georgia; and the doctors and staff in Columbia S.C. for all the care and support.
