Hattie Brown of Charlottesville, Virginia went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her children and family members on the afternoon of July 18, 2014. She was born on July 12, 1929 in Madison County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Early; mother, Else Brown; father, David Brown; 2 sisters, Anna Porter and Lilan Brown Gentry, 6 brothers, John Brown, Hollierd Brown, Lee Brown, Delmon Brown, Wallace Brown, and David Brown.

Hattie was a wonderful lady. She did an enormous amount of domestic work in her years. Many people admired how very loving and caring she was to everyone she knew and met. She enjoyed cooking; watching TV; and playing with her grandchildren. Hattie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

She will leave to cherish her memory a daughter, Betty Brown Thompson of Charlottesville, VA; 2 sons, Tommy Brown, Sr. and James Brown all of Charlottesville, VA; devoted grandchildren, Shondail Brown, Lashelle Brown, Sheronda Folley, Tommy Brown Jr., Thomascine Allen, Diamond Allen, Marcus Brown, Clyde Thompson, Robert Thompson, and Sharmaine Jackson; and 28 remaining grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Union Run Baptist Church, 3220 Keswick Road, Keswick, VA, with the Reverend Halliard Brown, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home.

The family would like to express special thanks to Alice Meador, Troost, Mr. Turner and family, Mr. Parher, The Blair Family, Staff of Trinity Mission and caregiver, Brenda Shelton.
