Maude Madeline Nelson Adams, 90, of Charlottesville, Virginia, fell asleep in death on Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Hopewell, Virginia. Maude, a native of Esmont, Virginia, was born April 8, 1923 to the late Joseph Lafayette Nelson and Cornelia Harris Nelson. She was the widow of Rawls E. Adams.

Maude was employed for a number of years as the Cafeteria Manager at McGuffey Elementary School and later retired from The Cedars Nursing Home.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter Lula Adams Reaves and son-in-law Earl Reaves of Chester, Virginia; granddaughter Gail Renee Queen and grandson-in-law Dwayne Anthony Queen of Chester, Virginia; great-granddaughters Rachel Danielle Queen and Brandy Monet Queen both of whom she adored, of Chester, Virginia.

Maude is also survived by two devoted nephews, Joseph “Pic” Nelson and Albert Steppe; devoted niece, Nancy Ward Luck and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and one sister-in-law, Anna A. Nelson. Maude was preceded in death by her siblings: Abraham, Joseph, Sallie, Julia, Charles, Phillip, Cornelia Anne, Sadie, and John. She was also preceded in death by her niece, Blanche Richardson Steppe, who was like a daughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home, 108 6th Street, NW, with Linwood Robinson officiating.
