Theodora “LaLa” Lanette Crawford of Charlottesville, Virginia departed this life on August 23, 2014, after a short illness at the age of 46. LaLa was survived by a loving and devoted mother, Katherine J. Crawford of Charlottesville.  She was preceded in death by her father, the late James H. Crawford.  She was the paternal granddaughter of the late Carrie Elizabeth Miller and maternal granddaughter of the late James A. Jackson, Sr. and Bessie B. Jackson and lifetime friend the late Derrick Campbell. 

     LaLa was a graduate of Charlottesville High School class of 1986, where she participated in the Student Explorer Program with the Charlottesville Police Department.  LaLa received her CNA from CATEC and attended the National Business College and Piedmont Community College.  She was baptized at Union Run Baptist Church of Shadwell, VA at the age of 10 and was a faithful member of the Zion Union Baptist Church of Charlottesville, VA. She was a person of faith and loved the Lord; and a devoted mother, daughter and sister. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening and working in the yard. 

     LaLa was survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Asia N. B. Crawford of Charlottesville; devoted sisters, Carrie Crawford-Norwood and husband, Charles of Stafford, VA, Antonia L. Crawford of Charlottesville, Chyna N. Crawford of Houston, TX, and a half-sister, Jayme Crawford of Charlottesville; loving nieces, Mariah Bowles and Nyvaeh Jackson; and pet Binx; she was also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

     Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Zion Union Baptist Church, 1015 Preston Avenue, with the Reverend Lloyd Cosby officiating.

      Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail.

The Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.

     In lieu of flowers the family request that all donations be sent to the Zion Union Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 1015 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
