Quanshe Renee Washington passed away on Tuesday,November 19, 2013, after a courageous battle with Colon Cancer.  She was 27 years old. 

She entered into eternal rest at the home of her beloved family friend, and second mom, Ms. Sherry Wilson.

She was born May 12, 1986 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.  As a

lifelong resident of Charlottesville, she attended Charlottesville City Schools where she was a star basketball player. She enrolled at Piedmont Virginia Community College in the spring of 2013 with hopes of becoming a College graduate.  During her illness, she spent countless hours studying the ministry with her aunts.  She felt joy and pride in becoming a member of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her paternal step grandfather James Burton, maternal grandfather, William Taylor and Elizabeth and maternal great grandmother, Levonia Washington.

She is survived by three children, Damarion Cowan, Semajah Brown and Sedarion Brookens;and her parents, Donald Burns and Pam, and Angela Washington and Danny all of Charlottesville, Virginia. Additionally she leaves to cherish her memory two beloved sisters Natasha Washington and Lionel and her twin Quante Washington; and her life partner Frank “Kuku” Brown all of Charlottesville, Virginia; six uncles, Edward Burns of Charlottesville, Virginia, Richard Burns and Crystal of Lexington, Kentucky, Michael Burns and Mingson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Lloyd “Rusty” Washington of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Charles Alexander of Richmond, Virginia, William Alexander of Charlottesville, Virginia; three aunts, April Burns, Martina Payne and Nicole Washington all of Charlottesville, Virginia. Joining in their loss is her paternal Grandmother “Granny” Joan Burton and maternal Grandmother Lucille Payne of Charlottesville, Virginia; her great grandmother “granny” Rosa Brown of Proffit, Virginia; Cousins, Edward Hardy, William Burns, Richard Lee, Steven Jefferson, Antonio Washington, Damian and Christian Washington,Brianna Jordan, Natasha Lee, Latonya Allen, and Latricia Carter; and her precious nephews and niece Tyshawn Davis-Lee, Kahtron and Khamari Jackson. Quanshe loved her great aunts, “Joyce” Margaret Vaughn, Marion Blakey, “Lolly” Shirley Brown and “aunt Bee” Beaulah Wsshington.

A host of family and friends loved and cared for her including lifelong friends, Monique Wilson, Mon'chel Wilson, Chanell Jackson, Binta Rose, Germina Francois, Angela Jones, Gwen Harris, Renne Harris, and Rayshon Harris who remained at her side until the end.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013, at 12 p.m at Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church with Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

She will lie in repose from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday November 24th at J. F. Bell Funeral Home, 108 Sixth Street, N.W.

The family wishes to thank the support of the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont, the University of Virginia Medical Center's Oncology Caregivers, and the staff of 8 West for their support during her hospitalization.  Special thanks to our living Angel Ms. Sherry Wilson for opening her heart and her home to our entire family during our daughter's final days, and to the countless supporters who loved and comforted us during this difficult time.
