Travis Arthur Wells, Sr. 84 departed this life on Monday August 4, 2008 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on December 6, 1923 to the late Travers and Annie Washington Wells. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Georgia Mae Wells, one brother Clarence Wells, four sisters Pauline Loving, Dorothy Bullock, Margaret Wells and Virginia Mayfield.

Travis was educated in the Fluvanna County School System and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a diesel engine mechanic and the owner/operator of a local trucking company.

Mr. Wells leaves to cherish his memory four sons Travis A. Jr., Robert E., Gregory A. and Michael B. Wells; three daughters Antoinette C. and Linda Wells and Harriet Mills and her husband David; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 12 noon at St. James Baptist Church 201 Henson Road, Palmyra, Va. Interment will follow in the Wells Family Cemetery Troy, Va.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services (11:00 am).
