Rev. Carlton
Andrew Luck, Sr. departed this earthly life on August 19, 2008. He was born on
January 13, 1932, in White Hall to the late James Ralp He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Nancy Ward Luck; four children: a daughter, Berlinda Mills (Jesse), of Esmont; three sons: André Luck (Iris); Carlton Luck, II (Karen), all of Charlottesville; and Marcus Luck (Hope) of Indianapolis, IN; four siblings: Ruth Mints (Garfield) of Baltimore, MD; Angaleen Goodloe of Palmyra; Roland Luck, Sr. (Joyce) of Charlottesville and Dana Eric Luck (Debra) of Hershey, PA; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Ward and Charlotte Swingler (Frank) of Esmont and Rosa James (Morris) of Washington, D.C; and a brother-in-law William Ward (Barbara) of Upper Marlboro, MD. He was also blessed with six grand children, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Rev. Luck served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He was a member of New Green Mountain Baptist Church in Esmont. In 1966, he answered the call to minister as an evangelist. He preached in Nairobi, Kenya, London, England and throughout the United States. He fully operated as an apostle, evangelist, pastor and teacher. He was well-known for preaching a message of faith, salvation and healing. He ministered to many people who were poor in spirit, sick and dying, frequently with positive results. He was an adviser to many seekers and a mentor to young ministers of the gospel. He served as an elder of Oakleigh Christian Retreats, Greenwood for 9 years. He was instrumental in planting a church in Raccoon Ford, VA and Living Stones Fellowship, in Mechanicsville, VA. He was pastor of Free Union Baptist Church in Stony Point for 13 years. A carpenter by trade, he owned his own construction and well drilling businesses. He worked on many residential and commercial projects throughout Albemarle County and Charlottesville, including the Pizza Hut on 29 North. A funeral service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Esmont at 1 pm on Friday, August 22. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Keene. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at J. F. Bell Funeral Home. J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
