George “Dooney” Randolph Minor, Jr., 52, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1956 to the late George R. Minor, Sr. and Mary W. Minor. He worked at Martin Roofing for 31 years. He enjoyed his morning cup of coffee at Tom Thumb and McDonalds. He is survived by his wife, Alice Howard of Charlottesville; two sons, George L. Minor and Lamont D. Minor; a daughter, Sherice A. Minor all of Charlottesville; two sisters, Delores Scott and her husband, John of Charlottesville and Frances Minor Brown of Philadelphia, PA; three uncles, William Smith, William Washington and Riley Kelley and wife, Bishop Sarah Kelly of Charlottesville; three aunts, Maybelle Kenney, Lucille Williams and Pearl Anderson; devoted cousin, William Rhodes, who was like a brother, and his wife, Tanya; devoted friends, Charles Kenney, Raymond Bruce, Paula Spradlin, Mark Bridenhagen, the Martin Roofing Company, and a host of nieces, nephews, God children and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Zion Union Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. R. A. Johnson, Pastor Pilgrim Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Viewing will be from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday and on Monday from 9 a.m -7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family expresses that monetary contributions be made to: George Minor Educational Memorial Fund, 517, 7 ˝ Street S.
